DR. OGECHI UKEGBU OD
Dr. Ukegbu is a highly skilled and compassionate Optometrist with 15 years of experience dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care services throughout the community. A native of Houston, TX, born to immigrant parents migrating from Abia State, Nigeria, she graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, while minoring in Chemistry. She later pursued a Post-baccalaureate degree from CCNY in Manhattan, NY, during which time she taught Math and Science to inner-city middle and high school students at The Children’s Harlem Zone.
While teaching in NY, Dr. Ukegbu learned of her father’s battle with his vision in Houston, where he lost one of his eyes due to the negligence of his eye surgeon at the time. This sparked her curiosity to train to become an eye doctor, creating a legacy of excellence in healthcare while ensuring that her father’s situation did not happen to others. She continued onward to receive her Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now called Salus University), where she received extensive training in specialty services, including glaucoma, neurology, pediatrics, ocular disease, and emergency care.
Dr. Ukegbu holds licenses in seven states: Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, Rhode Island, and Texas. Her achievements include the National Optometric Association Academic Excellence Award and induction into the Golden Key International Honour Society. She has also been published in the International Weekly Journal of Science. She holds memberships with the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, and National Optometric Association.

Dr. Ukegbu prides herself on the personalized care she gives to every one of her patients. She is fortunate to have an excellent team by her side who shares her vision as she continues to raise the standard of quality care in eye health.
